SL users can file support tickets to ask to purchase Abandoned land, and it's usually pretty fast and cheap too! Finding available land in regions where you already own land can also be a great way to 'get more prims', too! The Second Life viewer makes it easy to find land for sale, and even for land being auctioned, but there's no easy way to tell at a glance if any land in a given region might have been abandoned!
So, I made a tool just for finding abandoned land!
Simply attach the Buttonjar - Abandoned Land Finder HUD, and within seconds it will scan the region and find any and all abandoned land for you. Clicking the on the displayed map will pop-up useful information about the parcel you clicked, the kind of info you'll need if you want to claim it.. plus a handy teleport link so you can zip right over to it!
▶ Basic operation
• Attach the HUD
• The HUD will reload, scanning the region for parcel owners.
• A yellow ➤ triangle pointer will show your position on the map, and indicate the direction your avatar is facing.
• Each time you enter a new region, the map will automatically re-scan for parcel owners.
• Click anywhere on the map to get a report on that parcel.
▶ Parcel Reports
Click on the MAP to get an information pop-up with information about the parcel, including:
• The Parcel's Name
• The Parcel's ID Number
• The Region name and the Parcel coordinates, as well as the region's rating G/M/A
• The Owner of the parcel
• The Area of the Parcel in square meters (m²)
• How much Land Impact the parcel can support
• And a Teleport Link
▶ Three buttons also appear on the report popup:
[ ๐จ️ Print ] - Outputs the contents of the current parcel report (privately) to your local chat window. (only you can see this text).
[ ๐งน Redraw ] - Errors can happen in SL. Pressing this button will cause the HUD to redraw the Abandoned parcels.
[ ๐ก Rescan ] - Triggers a full re-scan of the region, refreshes the map image, and redraws the Abandoned parcels.
▶ HUD buttons
• Click the ❎ button on the HUD to quickly remove (unwear) the HUD
• Click the ๐ button on the HUD to toggle sounds on/off
• Click the colored oooo◯ooo dots at the bottom of the HUD, to change the parcel display color.
